“It’s like a necklace for the House of Worship,” a visitor said in describing the hand railings that were recently installed at the House of Worship.
When all are completed, the railings, which circle the temple at the base of the stairs overlooking the gardens, will also guide visitors to each of the nine doors. Previously only two of the nine doors had railings.
In designing the new railings, the restoration team followed updated safety guidelines and considered durability, cost and aesthetics. The design of the stainless steel rails is reminiscent of that of the original railings. Impervious to rust, the sleek finish is meant to last hundreds of years with minimal maintenance.
